About Us

Paul G. Ahern is Managing Principal of Winslow Capital Group, LLC, (“WCG”) a Registered Investment Adviser & Institutional Consultant providing counsel to the bank-based, wealth management industry including, proprietary research on open architecture industry trends including, pricing. WCG provides independent consulting services to banks that are seeking scalable efficiencies and lean operating cost structures through open architecture. WCG provides strategic consulting, tactical implementation and monitoring for banks working within the broad-based, open architecture environment that ranges from proprietary bank-based investment management to separately managed account platforms (SMA); to outsourced and insourced Overlay; Unified Managed Account offerings (UMA) and Unified Managed Household (UMH) architectures.

Mr. Ahern earned a baccalaureate degree from the University of Massachusetts with a double major in economics and political science. He later earned an MBA with a concentration in finance from University of Maine. Prior to founding Winslow Capital Group, LLC, Mr. Ahern was Executive Vice President and then CEO of BTI Financial Group from its founding as an operating subsidiary of Bar Harbor Bankshares until 2002. Mr. Ahern also served as President of BTI’s subsidiary, registered investment adviser, Block Capital Management. He was also a director of BTI Financial Group, and Vice President of the Board of Directors of Bar Harbor Bankshares, a public company. Prior to Mr. Ahern’s work establishing BTI Financial Group, he served as Chief Investment Officer of Bar Harbor Banking and Trust Company until his promotion within the greater Bankshares organization to CEO of BTI Financial Group. Previous to his employment at Bar Harbor Banking and Trust (operating subsidiary of Bar Harbor Bankshares) he was Portfolio Manager at Winslow Asset Management (no corporate relation to Winslow Capital Group, LLC) as well as Portfolio Manager at Winslow Asset Management’s successor organization, F.L. Putnam/Winslow Investment Management Company (no corporate relation to Winslow Capital Group, LLC). Mr. Ahern began his investment career as a Financial Consultant with Merrill Lynch.
